Find the best Greece Travel Insurance for your trip

Our policies are tailored to match you and your trip. But what type of policy you need really depends on you.

How many times are you going away?

What are you doing on your trip? Anything special? You might need specific cover for that activity or type of holiday.

  • Cruise Cover: Protect yourself against cabin confinement and unused excursion fees. We’ll even cover the cost of airlifting back to the mainland if you’re unwell.
  • Gadget Cover: Standard baggage insurance often does not include any of your gadgets. If you’re travelling with laptops or tablets, this is a must-have.
  • Golf Cover: Don’t fret about your unused Greens Fees or damage to your beloved clubs. Our Golf Cover covers you for up to £750 for any Golf Equipment.

Where are you going? Different countries need different levels of cover.

  • European Travel Insurance: Cover yourself across the entire continent, so you can be sure you’re protected, wherever you are.
  • USA Travel Insurance: The USA has notoriously high healthcare costs, so getting a policy that protects you is key.
  • Worldwide Travel Insurance: Going further afield? Worldwide Travel Insurance protects you no matter where you end up.

Who are you going with? It might work out cheaper and easier to get one big Travel Insurance policy.

  • Family Travel Insurance: Taking your little ones away? Don’t forget to insure them too.
  • Group Travel Insurance: Heading away with a few friends? Getting one big policy that covers everyone might work out cheaper and will be less paperwork.

“Brilliant sunshine, amazing food and a rich cultural history. It’s easy to see why so many Brits love holidaying in Greece. But even relaxing on a Greek island can present risks. So, making sure you have the correct type of Travel Insurance is paramount. Our cover includes everything from lost luggage to repatriation and air ambulance costs.”

What our customers say

A Very Positive Experience!

I was really anxious about organising single trip holiday insurance for my one week holiday in Greece because I am 68 and waiting on a hip replacement and gallbladder removal in the near future (I hope!) I thought that maybe All Clear wouldn’t be able to cover me. However, their representative, Sharon, made the whole experience easy to understand and was extremely patient answering all of my questions! I am very happy with my holiday insurance experience and feel confident about travelling now.”

Frequently Asked Questions on Greece Travel Insurance

Is Greece in Europe for Travel Insurance?

Yes, Greece is considered part of Europe for Travel Insurance purposes. Greece is included in European Travel Insurance cover. When purchasing a Single-trip policy for Greece, you can simply declare Greece as the destination. There’s no need to specify a particular Greek island or city. If you’re buying an Annual Multi-trip policy, a Europe policy will cover Greece.

Do you need Travel Insurance for Greece?

Travel Insurance is not a legal requirement to be able to enter Greece. However, the UK Government and the NHS recommend that all British nationals have Travel Insurance with medical cover if they plan to leave the country. Without proper Travel Insurance, you’ll be liable for any emergency medical costs incurred abroad. This includes costs for air ambulances, any treatments, or ongoing treatments.

How much does Travel Insurance for Greece cost?

The price of each Travel Insurance policy is based on several different factors. This includes your age, your medical history, your destination, and the length of your trip. Each of these can vary for each individual and trip, so the costs of Travel Insurance will vary too.

Does the GHIC cover Greece?

Yes, the Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) does cover Greece. It covers medically necessary state-provided healthcare during temporary stays in Greece.

However, there are some limitations for the GHIC you should be aware of.

  • It may not cover all health costs, and does not cover repatriation expenses.
  • It covers medically necessary state-provided healthcare during temporary stays in Greece. If you live in Greece as a British expat, you’ll need to organise medical cover.
  • For cruises visiting Greek islands, the GHIC cannot be used onboard the ship. It will also not cover the cost if you need to be airlifted to the mainland.

Do the Greek Isles class as Greece for Travel Insurance?

Yes, all Greek Islands are classed as Greece for Travel Insurance. No matter which Greek island you visit, if you have selected Greece as your area of cover, you will be covered while there. This applies even if you’re visiting smaller islands, such as Koufonisia, Amorgos or Milos.

Is healthcare free for tourists in Greece?

Emergency care in public hospitals is generally provided without charge in Greece. General healthcare, meanwhile, is not entirely free for tourists. However, relying solely on free emergency care is risky, as it doesn’t cover all potential medical needs during your trip. Travel insurance provides more comprehensive protection and peace of mind.
