Do you want to fly east or west?

You have equally warm options on both sides of the world, but they’re very different types of holiday.

Cancun

Cancun has a reputation as a party town, but there’s so much more to it. It’s lively and the resorts pull in tourists from across the world, but you can also wander Mayan ruins in the sun, visit the archaeological museums and explore the parks. Whether you’re a beach reader or a city explorer, Cancun has something to offer you.

Phuket

At the other end of the world, Phuket reaches 33 degrees and can offer up to eight hours of sunshine. Walk around the lush greenery in linen trousers – you’ll (finally!) be able to leave your coat at home. March is the end of Phuket’s dry season, so the only time you’ll get wet is if you fall off your jet ski or jump into the crystal clear waters off the side of your boat.

Barbados

The Caribbean is a constant favourite for sun worshippers. Perfect for families as it’s the home of Rascals Waterpark, the largest aquapark in the world. You can spend hours sliding (or falling!) off the obstacle course into the warm water.

Dominican Republic

Home to the 27 waterfalls of Damajagua, the island has topological features that pull in those looking for relaxed beach trips but also more adventurous activities. You can slide down the waterfalls after a fully immersive trek through the jungle or you can sip rum on the beach with a good book – all under the hot March sun.

Cuba

A fascinating destination for so many reasons, Cuba is a dream destination for a more discerning traveller. In some cases it’s a step back in time – from the classic American cars to the architecture to the slower way of life. But it’s definitely not stuck in the past – from the notes of jazz and salsa that follow you down the cobbled streets of Old Havana to the street trucks offering some of the best street food you’ll find anywhere in the world, it’s no wonder Cuba is such an intriguing destination.

Where is the hottest place in Europe?

If you don’t have the annual leave for a longer holiday, there are options much closer to home. You could consider Fuerteventura or Tenerife, both warm in March and quicker to get to than long haul trips.

And just before you go…

Even a last minute trip needs Travel Insurance. Make sure you’re covered for your destination and your activities so that if you have any accidents, injuries or illnesses while you’re away, you won’t be out of pocket.
